TCTSY
I also offer Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) for those looking for a somatic, body-based approach to working through the impacts of trauma.
TCTSY is the first empirically validated yoga-based clinical intervention for complex trauma and PTSD. Originally developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts by Dave Emerson and others, TCTSY is now a program of Center for Trauma and Embodiment at Justice Resource Institute.
Trauma disrupts the mind-body connection and TCTSY presents opportunities for participants to re-build a felt sense of their body to inform choice-making, agency and empowerment. Through opportunities for building interoceptive awareness, the practice supports capacity for distress tolerance and emotional regulation in a safe and supportive space. The approach has foundations in trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience and hatha yoga, with an emphasis on body-based yoga forms and breathing practices.
